NSF solicitation "Building Community and Capacity for Data-Intensive Research ... (BCC-SBE/EHR)"

The NSF Directorates for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) and for Education and Human Resources (EHR) recently issued the third and final in a series of joint solicitations for Building Community and Capacity for Data-Intensive Research. So far, the program has funded two projects involving Linguistics:

The solicitation synopsis reads as follows: As part of NSF's Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century Science and Engineering (CIF21) activity, the Directorate for Social, Behavioral, & Economic Sciences (SBE) and the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR) seek to enable research communities to develop visions, teams, and capabilities dedicated to creating new, large-scale, next-generation data resources and relevant analytic techniques to advance fundamental research for the SBE and EHR areas of research. Successful proposals will outline activities that will have significant impacts across multiple fields by enabling new types of data-intensive research. Investigators should think broadly and create a vision that extends intellectually across multiple disciplines and that includes--but is not necessarily limited to--the SBE or EHR areas of research.
The solicitation also states: The first of potentially multiple larger scale competitions is planned for 2015, funding permitted. Thus, while FY14 stresses community involvement in the design of the infrastructure, FY15 is anticipated to allow implementation projects.
The deadline for proposals is 3 March 2014.
All or nearly all the subfields, issues and tools & technologies are relevant to this announcement.
